Chinese electronics company Xiaomi is looking to cement its position in the UK’s nascent e-scooter market with the launch of an F1 inspired model.

Duer later this year the Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 is a collaboration with the racing car team Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1, whose drivers have won the last seven F1 championships

Ir doesn’t quite reach F1 speeds, clocking in at a maximum of 15MPH, but it does run for 27 miles on a single charge with the user informed of how much power they have left via a display on the handlebars.

Other features include a foldable design, pneumatic tyres and a silver arrow paint job.

The government is currently trialing scooters in parts of the country including Oxford, Colchester, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Taunton and Nottingham. In spite of their popularity though in theory, it is still illegal to use a privately owned e-scooter on public UK roads.
