Not long ago Eat Just, which is best known for its cultured meat product GOOD meat which is available only in Singapore, announced a $200 million finance round.
Now some of that money is being targeted at international expansions as the company has said it will launch its innovative JUST egg vegan egg alternative in Europe and the UK by the end of 2021.
The company’s CEO Josh Tetrick announced the move at this year’s virtual New Food Conference.
“We’re in the process of working with regulators and we are optimistic that we will be launching until the end of the year.
“Our goal is to be the most consumed egg in the world. It is more healthy, you don’t need the chicken.
“In order to eat an animal, you need to slaughter, you need to use antibiotics, you need to tear down the rainforest. Or maybe this used to be the case, it’s not anymore.”
Eat Just recently created a post on Twitter to say it has sold the equivalent of 100 million chicken eggs. It describes itself as ‘the fastest-growing egg brand in the US’.
There’s no update yet on when the cultured meat products will follow. The company will need to negotiate a host of regulatory issues both in Europe and the US before that product can be available.
