WashedUpCards turn bits of plastic from The Thames’ foreshore into cute cards

Most people who scour the banks of the River Thames looking for treasure (Mudlarkers is the technical term for them) dream of uncovering Roman coins, but invariably go home with a few Victorian clay pipes.

Someone who has a different mission each time she wades into the Thames foreshore is Flora Blathwayt.

After losing her job working for a sustainability company Flora had the genius idea of creating cards that use recycled plastic that she has picked up on the banks of the Thames.

They are sweet, one of a kind for all kinds of occasions, with the small bits of plastic taking centre stage

Flora admits it is going to take more than her with her bags to rid the river of plastic, but told the Huffington Post “it helps spread a little love and “get a few people to be a bit more conscious about their plastic consumption then it’s making progress”
